Established in 2012, The Barrel Boys are a bluegrass powerhouse with soaring harmonies, blazing picking, and an infectious stage presence. Their music blends tradition and originality into a soulful roots experience that has earned the Boys a special place in the hearts of Canadian music fans from coast to coast. In 2026, their music earned them nominations for “Vocal Group of the Year” at the Canadian Folk Music Awards, and “Performing Artist of the Year” at the Ontario Folk Music Awards.

"It's a blend of soul-soaked country and raw, indie bluegrass - nostalgic without being corny, emotional without feeling overdone. There's grit in it, and comfort too. Like a familiar smell you haven't noticed in years.” - Sasha Berndt, Hugh's Room Live

"There's a certain "band next door" feel to The Barrel Boys. They may be accomplished musicians with tight harmonies and great arrangements, but their music is also brimming with the kind of personality that makes you want to buy them a beer and hear their life stories." - Kristin Cavoukian, "Exclaim!"

The Barrel Boys are: Rob McLaren on banjo, Ben Wright on guitar, Tim O'Reilly on bass, and Nathan Smith on fiddle.
